💡 Depository of Awesome Ideas
The following are all the brilliant, clever and crazy ideas that you guys came up with you in your discussions and small talk. All ideas are good ideas, even bad ones. Who knows, maybe some of these will end up serving as inspiration for your next project! =)
Discussion Topics
- The disappearing memory of Singapore & DNA of places
In Singapore, physical structures are disappearing rapidly, and along with them, our memories. How do we come to terms with this phenomenon? Do places have DNA? And if so, after dozens of facelifts, do the DNA of these places remain? How can we surface and trace such DNA and pass down these memories?
- The DNA of Singapore
In relation to the topic above, what makes home home? Through the massive amounts of change, what is the DNA that makes us Singaporean? Or is "change" the Singaporean DNA? (Fun-Fact: Did you know? That the values Singapore hold as a country is actually the result of academic research by NUS, that's crafted and then meticulously inserted into National Day Songs and speeches.)
- What makes a good conversation?
No really, what makes a good conversation?
(PS: Check out interesting links and reads to find out answers to this question)
- How is power and influence generated?
No one looks past the first page of Google search results. In a sense, popularity and rankings on social media and tech platforms is a kind of power. The power of curation. Although social media and internet is meant to empower us, in many ways, we are controlled by the power of influence generated in this system (aka Google and Facebook). Where is power in this digital age? Who has power? How much power do we as users have? And what is our role in reinforcing this power of that tech giants and influencers hold?
Ri says: You scarily brilliant people you, that's enough food for thought to last most people for months.
Other flashes of brilliance
- License to do good
In Singapore, doing good isn't as easy as...doing good. Often times we have the drive, the idea and even the commitment to execute and take action- Only to get stuck at one thing: LICENSE. Here in Singapore, you apparently need a license to do good.
It's a clever phrase...how will you use it to inspire work?
